COVID UPDATE: 12-Hour Curfew to Start This Week in Kuwait

Amid precautionary measures taken by the Health Ministry, Kuwait's government has announced last weekend the decision to commence a twelve-hour curfew in the country

The curfew will be in effect for one month from the 7th of March till 7th April - Starting at 5 pm until 5 am affecting individuals and institutions alike in combat with the virus. 

The decision to impose this curfew came after the significant noticeable rise in daily new cases over the past weeks, where statistical charts have seen an incline in daily new cases, that of which 1326 new cases this Monday 8th March. 

As to institutions to be excluded from the curfew decision, only medical centers and pharmacies will be allowed to remain open during the 12-hour night curfew. Supermarkets are allowed to operate on a home delivery basis.  

People are allowed to attend prayers in their local mosques during curfew hours but only on foot.  

Where restaurants and cafes will remain closed and people can order a home delivery only. 

The government also has taken extra-disciplinary actions against individuals violating the 12-hour curfew where they can be facing a fine of up to KD 5,000. With the possibility of getting jailed for up to three months.
