Employees on probation and those who require to be physically present in their offices for work will not be part of the e-work system.

Ajman has approved a work-from-home system permanently for government employees. A decision was given by Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, the representative for Administrative and Financial Affairs of His Highness the Ruler of Ajman, stipulating that the circulation will be applied to all local government entities.

On Monday, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) announced that probation staff and others who need to be physically present at their offices for work would not be part of the e-work scheme.

There are two ways of working remotely. The first requires employees to work 100 % from outside the office. The second uses a partial remote working system, in which staff report on a regular, weekly, or monthly basis to the workplace. The choice to choose the remote system that works best for them has been given to each government agency.

The system will allow workers, if necessary, to work remotely from outside the country, at the sole discretion of the competent government authorities.

The change seeks to develop a system that guarantees business continuity and the availability of government services at all times. All government authorities will need to draft a report on the consistency of the framework with the nature of their job, functionality, work responsibilities, and services.

Federal and local government agencies had shut down offices to curtail the spread of the virus when the Covid-19 pandemic struck but managed to provide online services effectively. They also reopened most of the offices.
