Egypt IT And Telecommunication Sector To Be Stronger With New Investments

Telecommunication has been more perceived during the past years due to its benefits. It has helped to make communication more comfortable and more efficient. In business-wise, it has made a massive difference in the productivity levels of any company. Besides, it has saved a lot of time and effort. In addition, it has boosted teamwork and client relations with the companies. Telecommunication has various modes such as wireless networks, wired networks, and mobile telecom services.

Mr. Amr Talaat, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, declared that the telecommunication sector would participate by the percentage of eight to Egypt’s gross domestic product over the upcoming three years. He also stated that during the financial year 2019-2020, information technology developed by the percentage of 15.2, which made it rank the first place among other sectors in Egypt. Furthermore, Mr. Talaat announced that it contributed to the Gross domestic product by the percentage of 4.4 for 2019-2020.

Although the pressure that the ministry faced during Coronavirus, due to the rise of internet consumption rate, he stated that the ministry contributed with investments with a thirty-five percent growth rate, which amounted to 48 million Egyptian pounds. Moreover, he announced that Egypt has an objective of reaching a progress rate of forty percent for the year 2020-2021.

Mentioning Coronavirus pandemic pressure on the internet network, Talaat illustrated that the internet consumption reached 15 hours a day with the percentage of 99, because of working from home and online education during the pandemic. As a result of that, the Egyptian government has the intention of raising internet competence.

Egypt is investing about 30 billion Egyptian pounds in order to increase internet proficiency, which made it come to fourth place in terms of efficiency among all African countries. The plan started in 2020 and amassed 300 million dollars. He stated that the ministry is planning on expanding the fiber-optic internet to more houses around Egypt.
